All about Santa

Today’s prompt is about Santa! Or, more about treats, but eh.

If you celebrate Christmas, do you put out anything for Santa? If you don’t celebrate Christmas, tell us about your favourite treat you like to receive.

I believed in Santa growing up. I thought the tradition was fun, but since I’m the oldest of 3, I believed for longer than most of my peers. I could be embarrassed about that, but I’m not.

We always left notes and treats. We always baked cookies a few days before Christmas and we’d always leave a few out for Santa. We also left out carrots for the reindeer, and I wonder if my parents actually ate the carrots or just put them back in the fridge or something. I have no idea. Of course, we’d always receive a note from Santa, and his handwriting never looked like either of my parents’ handwriting, so I just figured he was real!

I remember when I found out Santa wasn’t real. I was 11 or 12 (like I said, I was old) and my sister and I were looking for something in the storage space above the garage. Instead of finding whatever we were looking for, we found a bunch of toys instead, and I kind of knew at that point that the Santa thing wasn’t true. I wasn’t disappointed, really, and I didn’t get upset – I thought it was nice of my parents to get us things for Christmas! I still pretended he existed to appease my 6 years younger than me brother.

Obviously I don’t put treats out any longer! I already wrote a post about my favorite Christmas candy, so I don’t want to repeat myself. Man, too many of these questions are too alike!
