End of the year.

So, today’s the last day of 2010. This year did not go as expected, not at all! I experienced the highest of highs and the lowest of lows, and in general, I will be working on making 2011 a much more satisfying year!

Obviously, my dad’s accident was the biggest thing to happen this year. It will be a year since his fall in just a few weeks, and it’s awesome to see how much progress he’s made in a year. Since buying a van a few months ago, my dad’s been able to leave the house to shop and socialize, and he’ll be returning back to work sometime next month! It’s inspiring to see him do what he does every day, and I’m lucky to call such a man my father.

Another new thing in my life this year is my relationship with Ted. We met sometime in 2009, but we started dating earlier this year and our relationship is obviously very important to me! We’ve traveled to California, Maine, Connecticut, and DC this year and we plan on taking more trips together next year. I feel very fortunate to have met someone like him and I’m very happy to have him in my life.

As I said in the above paragraph, I traveled a fair amount in 2010. I went to San Francisco in April, Maine in both June and October, Los Angeles in July, Mystic, CT in August, and DC at the end of October for the Rally to Restore Sanity!

This year also marks the first year since 1999 that I did not set foot in the state of Indiana once. I will hopefully return to the state I lived in for 8 years for a weekend trip in 2011, but that will be determined by everything else going on this year. A trip to Vermont and a California trip to San Francisco, Santa Cruz, and LA are also in the works for 2011. We love to travel!

Here are a few things I want to do in 2011:

  • Learn a new programming language. Ruby, I’m looking at you.
  • Figure out what the heck I should do with this blog.
  • Make more things out of fiber and paper!
  • Write more in my paper journal.
  • Make better lunches during the workweek!

I’m excited for the new year to begin. Bring it on, 2011!
