First goal met!
Around this time last year, I started my first running group. Observe a tweet from one of my first runs of that training:
I remember those first few runs of that training, where I felt like I was going to die or drop dead after running a minute or two. I remember sweating buckets and breathing hard, nowhere near able to carry on a conversation with those around me.
How things have changed.
This is from my run last Thursday, April 4th, exactly a year after my tweet. For the first time ever, I ran an entire 5k distance without stopping to walk. I still can’t believe I did it. I may or may not have jumped up and down around my apartment wanting to tell everyone and their mother that I ran over 3 miles today, but yeah. I restrained myself. A little.
The other amazing thing about last Thursday’s run is that this is the fastest I’ve ever run a 5k! I ran 3 5ks last year, with a PR of 36-something. I’m excited to see my time when I run my first 5k of the year in May!
Improvements. They’re happening, slowly but surely. I’m amazed at how much I’ve accomplished in a year!
