Christmas Shopping 2008: Over!

Happy Thing #4: Today I finished my Christmas shopping! Unfortunately, I can't wrap any of my gifts yet due to the fact that I will be flying in a few days, so I will have to either wrap them when I get to my parents' house or just use gift bags for everyone's gifts.

Either way, I'm glad I'm done!

Happiness, day three.

Happy Thing #3: I spent my day relaxing, watching DVDs, knitting, and hanging out with friends, eating pizza and watching Christmas movies. I am happy because I feel relaxed and at ease. Oh, I love the weekends.

More happiness.

Happy Thing #2: This one's a no-brainer. It's Friday! I love being able to stay up late, sleep in the next morning, and do whatever I want the next day. Also, it's the Friday before Christmas, so that makes me even happier!

I also enjoyed a yummy burger at Bob Evans for lunch with a friend of mine, and will be seeing more of my friends tonight at our new favorite bar. Let the weekend begin!

Eight days of happiness.

It is winter. (Or, it will be in a few days.) Most of the time, I am okay with winter before the holidays. This year, due to the fact that we've received more snow before Christmas than I recall in a long time, I am not okay with it. I am downright sad and annoyed by it, actually.

So. Instead of sitting around, moping about how much I detest the winter, I'm going to focus on happy things for the next eight days, until Christmas Day, instead. It is fitting that I'll be ending this on Christmas, as most of the time it's my favorite day of the year.

Happy Thing #1: I am proud of myself for being where I am right now. I'm not rich by any means, but I can sustain myself. Everything I pay for comes from money I make on my own. I work a decent paying job, and I am managing my money fairly well. I am able to afford my car payments, my student loans, my other bills, and still have money to go out and enjoy myself. I'm happy to be where I am right now, as being broke was a big concern for me when my marriage ended. I am happy to say I am doing well for myself, and I'm hoping down the road my financial situation only improves.

What makes you happy today?

Hey, look! I do knit!

Wristwarmers, close up

So, it's been awhile since I've posted any of my knitting here. Knitting has kept me sane the past few months when life has been nuts, and I'm grateful that I found a hobby that keeps my hands busy!

Sometime last month I finished a pair of A Little Twist Wristwarmers after I saw one of my fellow NaNo-ers wearing them at a meeting sometime in November. I LOVE them. I used yarn I bought at Michigan Fiber Fest a few years ago; of course, I can't remember what it's called, but it reminds me of neopolitan ice cream, in a way. I love how these turned out and a few of my other friends have knit some for themselves, too!

No Purl Monkeys

I'm also knitting a pair of No-Purl Monkeys (It's this pattern, except you don't purl where it tells you to. Yes, be a rebel and DON'T follow the pattern!), and so far I'm loving this pattern too! I also love the yarn I picked for the project. I took it off my mom's hands last time I was home, so of course, I have no idea what the yarn is. (See a pattern here?) I'd love to get these done sometime soon, but I'll probably end up saving some of it for my flight home for Christmas. That would be nice. Either way, the Monkey socks are fun.

Swan Lake!

This is sort of a craptastic picture, but look, it's me sort of modeling my Swan Lake stole! I still have no idea where I'll wear this, but I still love how it came out. Maybe if I ever dress up and the dress happens to coordinate with the stole, I'll take it out with me. Maybe.

I've also picked up Arisaig again; I put it away for a few months after knitting a sleeve and realizing it was way, way too big for me. Now that I've calmed down, I'm starting over, this time hopefully knitting a sleeve in the right size! And then a second sleeve in the right size! I'm apparently full of hope and optimism over this! But I do love the pattern.

So much knitting, so little time...
