Getting back into the blogging thing.
Hey, look! I’m back! Yes, again. I seem to take long blog absences, but I’ve been pretty busy with getting married and all.
2013 has been the year of crazy blog changes for me – I moved my blog from WordPress to Drupal, back to WordPress, THEN to Jekyll. I FINALLY updated my previous posts, saved all my images, and fixed all my links, so here it is, bright and shiny and new for the site’s 13th birthday. (Yeah. I’ve owned this domain name for thirteen years. 2000 was that long ago?) I’m still in the process of fleshing out the sidebar and adding more content, but hey, the basic blog’s back up and running, and that’s good enough for me for now.
In the past month, I’ve done something I never thought in a million years I’d ever do – I signed up for a half marathon! I’ll be running the Seacoast Half Marathon on November 10th, and I’m super excited! I joined a local training group to help me along the way – I know most of the other runners and a couple of the coaches from my 10k training group this past spring, so it’s been great running with people I already know. We start week 3 of the training next week and I’m REALLY looking forward to the temperatures cooling down a bit!
Since I last posted, I’ve run a couple races – the York Days 5k in York, ME (my first race in Maine!), and the Saunders at Rye Harbor 10k just a few miles down the road in Rye NH. I didn’t PR either race, but I didn’t expect to, as I didn’t really run for a month at the end of June / beginning of July. Again, I blame getting married and going on our honeymoon. I DID run once on the cruise ship, but I didn’t much like the feeling of running in a sauna with the extreme heat and humidity of the western Caribbean! I’m attempting to get back to my running times before the wedding, and I’m getting there, slowly but surely.
I really want to get back into writing in this blog more often. I keep on saying it, but this time I want to do it. No excuses. I used to love spending hours working on this blog, creating new designs, writing posts – I miss it greatly and hope to write more about my running progress, knitting goodness, beer, maybe some recipes. I’m sticking to it this time.
