Just some random things.

I didn’t know how to answer today’s Reverb16 question. Honestly, I’m struggling with writing anything today. I’ll still post something, even if it isn’t the prompt of the day. I really want to blog again and the only way I’ll keep up with it is to, well, actually keep up with it. Today’s post might just be randomness.

  • It snowed yesterday, the first real snow of the season. We only received an inch or two, but apparently the roads were a mess. One advantage to working from home is not having to drive in the snow if I don’t want to! I do feel pretty cooped up in my apartment and plan on leaving it today, but yeah. I enjoyed watching the snow fall from my apartment.
  • Knitting is the best. I started my Christmas socks on the day after Thanksgiving and I’m already almost to the heel of the second sock! I’m glad I started this tradition two years ago and I look forward to having an entire row of Christmas socks in my sock drawer.
  • I’m going to be 36 in a couple weeks. How in the world is that possible? Didn’t I just turn 28 last year? (No, I turned 28 in 2008 and I wrote about it!) My thirties have passed quicker than I ever imagined. I can’t believe I’ll be 40 in just a few short years.
  • I’m fighting the urge to insert a picture in every post. I like pretty pictures as much as the next person, but I don’t like thinking ‘oh, no one will read this if there aren’t any pictures!’. It’s silly, I know. Once I post about my knitting again, there will be pictures galore.
  • Sometimes I think about doing Vlogmas, where I post a video of my day every day in December. I don’t know how exciting that would be, as it would probably just be me in my apartment, but we’ll see. I’m not one who feels comfortable taking pictures out in public, so who knows if I’d take video. I’d like to try something new, at least.

We’ll see if I get back on track for Reverb tomorrow!

  1. You are really cruising on those socks; go you!

I like the idea of Vlogmas and may do it next year, but I only just learned about it. I do plan to make one video that may just be snippets of different days and fun things that happened. It seems like a really good way to focus on little positive and fun things.

The picture conundrum is hard. I’m not affected by a lack of pictures in blog posts, but I know a lot of people do consider a lack of them a deal breaker. I find that silly, as I feel on a lot of blogs that pictures were trying to cover for lacking content and anything to really say. But I suppose that’s why IG is replacing blogging for so many people. ;P

    1. I hate that some people consider the lack of pictures a deal breaker! It doesn’t matter to me if there are pictures or not if the content is good. And yeah, you’re right, a lot of people throw in a picture to make up for the lack of good content.

  2. Oh. Forgot to add to that last comment: if I could extend my life in any period of it, I wish humans could spend more time in the mid-thirties before we start to age more. My 30s have been infinitely better than most of my 20s.

    1. I wish I could say the same, but my 30s have been infinitely worse than my 20s. I’d go back to my late 20s in a heartbeat if I could. I’m hoping my 40s will be better at least.

  3. I have thought about vlogging but I am uncomfortable talking in front of a camera.

    1. I only haven’t done it because I’m not sure if I’d be too awkward or not! I’ve thought of starting an audio podcast, too, only because audio seems much less intimidating than video. We’ll see. I’ve talked about starting a podcast for years now!

  4. I’d listen to a podcast of yours!

About vlogging… My pet peeve is people going live on FB when a status update would do just as well (maybe that’s because I’m not always in a position to watch and may never come back to it, so any conversation they’re trying to start will go nowhere with me).

I know that’s not what Vlogmas is about, but I have a couple friends always doing that in a shared FB group. Meanwhile, I’m on FB while trying to get my daughter to sleep, so I’m certainly not playing a video.

    1. I definitely wouldn’t do FB live; I’d be posting them on Youtube so you can go watch them whenever. It’s how I watch the vlogs I watch now. I actually dislike FB live and never watch anything on there, so I wouldn’t be doing that for sure!

I like the idea of audio podcasts, but we’ll see if I end up doing either.
