Knitting, tea, and Harry Potter.

Well, it’s official. I’ve sprained my ankle. Bummer.
Thankfully it’s only a mild sprain – the doctor told me to not run for 3-5 days and to wear a brace. He also gave me a printout of ankle exercises to do when I start feeling better. They took x-rays of my foot (first x-rays of something other than my teeth, what?), and thankfully the doctor didn’t find anything alarming. So, I get to just rest and relax all weekend. I missed my run this morning, but I’d rather miss a run than risk it and hurt myself more. I can rest.
What will I be doing instead?
Cables are the best, and so is this yarn. Yummy.
Knitting a hat. I knit the Snapdragon Flip-tops a few years ago, and I’m just now getting around to knitting the matching hat, the Snapdragon Tam. I started the hat at this past Monday’s knit night, and I’ve been cruising ever since! I’m looking forward to a nice, warm, winter hat when the weather starts getting really cold.
Reading some comfort books. For the first time in 5-6 years, I’m re-reading the entire Harry Potter series. Harry Potter has been a comfort book for me for a long time – I remember reading the first book in bed when I was in college on days I didn’t feel well. And, well, since the weather’s been cold and dreary the past couple days, comfort books hit the spot. I’m currently in the middle of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, so I’m right in the middle of the series! I love these books.
Drinking tea. I love tea. I’ve never been huge into coffee, but I sure love me a cup of tea. My favorites are yellows and whites, or anything with a delicate, earthy flavor. Currently I’m drinking an oolong tea that I bought from a tea shop in Burlington VT this past May. It’s taken me almost five months to go through the entire canister! It’s good, but I’m looking forward to drinking other teas. A new tea place just opened down the street from our apartment, so once I can actually walk longer distances again, I’ll so be there!
Reading up on two awesome events happening this weekend. The events? Reach the Beach NH and the Healthy Living Summit! I’m seeing so many inspiring tweets, Instagram posts, and blogs all over the intarwebz talking about these events and I so wish I could have participated in either of them! At least everyone I know is documenting their experiences, so I can pretend I’m there. That’s as good as I’ll get this year!
