Today marks the beginning of a four day weekend for me! I’m pretty excited to have a few days off from work. Our holidays will be pretty low-key; we’ll be hanging around here until sometime on Sunday when we drive to Scott’s relatives’ house in southern Indiana and we’ll stay until sometime Monday night after a few Christmas dinners. We’ll drive back here on Monday night and spend Tuesday, Christmas, in South Bend. I’m planning on making prime rib for dinner for just the two of us (if I can find a prime rib just for two people!) with cocktail shrimp as an appetizer and perhaps some cookies for dessert.

This year marks the first year we’re spending actual Christmas day here in South Bend, with no family. It’s weird. I’m used to being around family for the holiday, but I figure this year we needed to try something different. (That, and I have to go back to work on Wednesday. Next year I’ll be taking more time off!) I’m looking forward to spending the day with Scott; we’ll cook dinner together, watch Christmas movies, and he’s mentioning something about getting a birthday cake for me. I also can’t forget the champagne he bought for the evening! I think we’ll have a good time, just the two of us, and I hope we begin new traditions that carry on down the road. I’m excited.
