Work in progress Wednesday!
Man, it’s been cold the past few days here in Portland! We got two inches of snow on Sunday night, and on Monday I woke up to icy streets and sidewalks. Schools closed and a few of the buses didn’t run, and no way did I want to be out and about yesterday. Nope. I can deal with snow driving with the best of them, but ice driving? I’d rather stay home.
Oh. Knitting? Spinning? I guess I can talk about those things.
I’ve picked up my Doodler again after not knitting a fair amount around the holidays. I am so, so pleased with the purple yarn I picked. I’m about halfway through the third clue now, and I’m hoping to finish this before the end of the month. The third clue is relatively easy, mostly straight knitting except for a complicated row here and there, so it’s mainly smooth sailing. After I finish, I only have the fourth clue left, which I believe is a fun and funky bind off! I can’t wait to get this done so I can wear this thing!
I haven’t been spinning very much the last couple months. I think I started spinning this fiber back in November, and I’m finally to the point of plying it. Finally. This is Hedgehog Fibre’s September 2015 club colorway, which is a 50% silk, 50% merino blend. This stuff’s been tough to spin, because silk isn’t my favorite fiber! It’s too slippery and sometimes it gets too slubby for my liking. Still, I love the colors and I can’t wait to see the final result. I’ll be 2 plying it and I’m thinking it will end up a fingeringish weight. We’ll see.
January’s been a slow month with my knitting. I’m hoping to start my first pair of socks for 2016 and I want to work on my mitered square blanket, but I’m focusing on these two projects first. I love bright knits and spins in the grey winter.
